Week 10 - Chennai - August 24, 2014

This week was awesome and like a million times more enjoyable than last week.  We worked really hard this week and when you do that then all your hard work and efforts pay off.  We visited so many families everyday I'm still not sure how we did it.  Here like no one shows up for church on time so we are really trying to get people to come a little before 9 so we don't have to start 15 minutes late all the time.  Also there are 3 really small children in our branch and they are so funny because they run around during sacrament meeting and cause so much trouble so I'm always laughing haha.

Just this week  an amazing miracle happened.  We finish our lunch on Thursday afternoon and have some free time so we decide to look for some families that we can teach.  I had this really strong urge to go one way so we started off on our cycles and found this random street we didn't even know existed.  Then we start to ask people where the Christian families are and they say there is only 1 on this whole block and we talk to them and they are not interested so we move on.  And as we are walking back we see another Christian door to a home and they gladly welcome us in and my companion and I are super confused because we don't know why.

Then they show us that missionaries a year back had taught them the Plan of Salvation and still had the pamphlet. Crazy but it gets better.  We go back on Sunday to see this family and teach them the Restoration and they are home and let us in.  We share with them the first vision of Joseph Smith and Heavenly Father  and he says, "yes i completely believe this is true.  Why wouldn't someone?"  Totally amazed, we whip out a Book of Mormon and say he can read this to know if our message is true or not.  His daughter all of a sudden gets up and pulls out her own Book of Mormon from the Closet!!!  They said they bought it from their church like 6 months back because he wanted to know what this book was about and how it talked about Jesus and had been wondering where it came from and what it was about!  If that is not a miracle then I don't know what is...

After that we invited the whole family for baptism on September 22nd and they all accepted.  If this isn't the true church then I don't know what is.  Heavenly Father is literally guiding us to His children to bring back to his fold.  Other than that it was really hot this week and I probably lost like 5 pounds of sweat.  I think I'm already down 15-20 pounds from when I left so hopefully I can keep getting in better shape.  We are planning for 6 baptisms next month and are trying to get up to 8 so we need to keep working hard.  Thanks for all the prayers and letters this week.  Glad to hear everyone is doing well.

Love

Elder Wakefield
